BUZZ WORDS and SPIN! I am a little over these adjectives that seem to be thrown around as daily conversation. Global warming, environment issues, carbon tax - yes we all know the world needs to be protected and I believe most of us are doing just that in our own way.  But you can perhaps understand why I get a tad irritated - we at PROKLEAN have been doing just that for over 23 years.

When we first began, our mission was to  reduce packaging, containers, refill, reduce and educate on the use of water soluable, cost effective, non toxichousehold cleaning and laundry products. Eliminating that walk down the "cleaning aisle" of the supermarket  where confusion reigns(and you probably sneezed). Most of all we wanted an Australian Made & Owned product and to give the customers a 'real choice' that made a difference.  A difference in the wallet and a difference in performance.  Our commercial cleaning expertise and experience was to be shared with our customers.  Market research for us was to observe what was being placed into the shopping carts of households with respect to cleaning/laundry products before food was even purchased - most of the items being toxic and I believe not too many labels were read!  Did we notice where these products originated from - I suspect not, simply because it was too small a print to read.  We strongly believed PROKLEAN could and DOES make a real difference - NOT BAD FOR AN APPRENTICESHIP OVER 23 YEARS.....

We continue to strive for excellence in our products and service to our customer base - many proudly we state have been with us from the first day we opened our doors.  Now we have their extended families and the word is spreading.

This year we will be reviewing our packaging/containers and looking for some new ideas to pass your way. Along with many cleaning and cost saving  techniques. Take the humble "ham bag" - after use, a light spray with our Orange Stripe and a good soak in the Laundry Pre-Soak and your ready for the next year. The accidental spills on carpets and linen respond to a light spray with Orange Stripe as well.

And no matter how hard you try with seafood, that elusive prawn head manages to stay behind or fall out of the bin liners. Our Deodorant Cleaners(Hospital Grade Disinfectants) will kill the germs and mask that odour.  I use the Jelly Bean fragrance for our wheelie bin and also to spray on our deck where the native birds often visit. Lots of other fragrances available.

If you haven't tried our new fragrance to mist and freshen the rooms, especially with the rainy weather we have been having that tends to make everything musty, our newest room spray, SUMMER MIST is delightful. Very much like a Calvin Klein perfume.

Well enough of the cleaning chatter - its been pleasant to talk with you, our customers and friends, this year.  Many of you have been with us since we opened some twenty odd years ago and for this a big thanks.  We have obviously fitted the bill with our products - but most of all you have remained loyal. We will be looking for new opportunities in the new year and to make your cleaning chores that much easier.

Our philosphy is simple - we aim to be kind to the earth, deliver a product that satisfies our customers needs both in performance and economy and provide quality service.

Proklean products are concentrated which creates in itself savings in water and energy use . Flare and Snowite Laundry powders for example, are low sudsing so require less water to wash away excess suds . Orange Stripe and Purple Stripe are others, among many products in store that are water efficient and of course economical. A one litre bottle(fully concentrated) makes 10 x 500ml bottles of ready to use product. Its hard to select our customers 'favourites' - they all have different "loves" .                                      We actually made the "radio waves" this week.  Radio 2GB have a segment titled Business Card that gives small business the opportunity to discuss the positives of their business on open radio,  and we were invited to do so.   Thank you 2GB - we now have new Proklean members.      

                                                                                                                               Do   you feed the native birds at home?  We do and it is a real joy to watch the various behaviours and personalities - the downside however, is the mess they can leave.  Every week I disinfect with our Purple Stripe or Lavender and Apple.  It is very effective and pleasantly fragrant.  Small inconvenience for the pleasure the bring to us.    Enjoy your day  - Elizabeth.                                                                                                     

CLEANING is always 'work in progress' and housework is only one category. Having a full time job, being a parent, its very hard to get EVERYTHING done and yes "try" and relax. We tend to have too much pressure in our lives these days.   I remember when the concept of our brand began, the criteria was for a simple,cost effective and easy to understand product.  After thirty years of tweaking and testing I can say without a doubt, we have the best!.

A clean house has a psychological presence about it - calming, pleasant,self satisfying (stay with me here) they may be only brief moments until the family arrives home, but at least you will know the feeling.  Of course there is also the fact you are protecting your environment by keeping the areas clean and hygienic.

Cleaning,Disinfecting,Sanitizing what is that?  Cleaning  is removing soil etc with all-purpose cleaner.  Disinfecting is destroying bacteria/pathogens. Sanitizing reduces the number of microorganisms to a safe level.

A mention here about bleach - we all know its effective but the dangers of using bleach outweigh the advantages. Mixing bleach with ammonia and other chemicals causes toxic gases.  Is it worth the risk???

Using Proklean can make a difference, not only to our planet - but also to our budgets. 

Now a little bit of trivia for you "WHY DOES THE CUTLERY DRAWER ALWAYS COLLECT BREAD CRUMBS"??? I don't really know I hope YOU DO.

Just lately I have picked up so many articles on hands washing and hand hygiene it makes me think of the saying 'everything old is new again'. Its so simple and obvious - we seem to be slipping in the very basics of life - its not rocket science - just pure common sense.

Only this week I was speaking with some very special customers (who were celebrating 50 years of married life) they will know who I mean - about the method of cleaning in the hospital some years ago.

Remember when the noisy cleaning/polishing machine used to come around when you were visiting - under the beds - around the trolleys.You could'nt talk while they were in the room could you! As a matter of fact the trolleys were wiped down including bed heads etc. This would happen several times a day if you happend to do more than one visit to your loved one. No wonder we read such things as I did in our local paper recently;

"Cleaning you hands can help save lives"

Just recently St.George & Sutherland Hospitals demonstrated how swabs taken from the hands of staff had dramatic reduction in organisms before and after hand sanitation. Its well documented that one of the most important measures for preventing the spread of pathogens is effective hand washing.

Keep a bottle of alcohol-based wash in your car, bag, golf buggy - whatever you never know who has touched that item before you!. On my holidays overseas a few years ago - we took three bottles of our Hand Wash Sanitiser- and it was VERY WELCOME. Until next time WASH YOUR HANDS................................
